CO2 FREE
In our journey to become carbon neutral environmentally-friendly brand that invests in sustainability initiatives, we are excited to work with Pachama to counteract the environmental impact of creating our unique designer sportswear.
Our mission to be an ethical, sustainable and carbon neutral brand is to give back to the environment from where we source our fabrics and to eliminate the carbon footprint we leave behind.
We believe the protecting and restoring the forests is the most effective way we can take action to recapture CO2 from the atmosphere to solve climate change, while providing biodiversity and being able to give back to the relevant communities through benefits like quality education, gender equality, zero hunger and responsible production.
The Amazon rainforest is one of the most incredible natural wonders on Planet Earth. Often referred to as the ‘lungs of the planet,’ 20% of the world’s carbon is absorbed by the Amazon alone! Beyond carbon, the Amazon is also home to 10% of the world’s known species (2.5 million insect species alone), and 40,000 plant species (many of which are the basis of our pharmaceutical medicines).
Unfortunately, the Amazon is under tremendous pressure from agriculture and illegal timber harvesting. It is estimated that the Amazon is being deforested at a rate of 3 football fields per minute and that we’ve already lost 15–17% of the forest. This deforestation of existing forests accounts for 12–15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, more than all of the European Union combined. Old-growth, tropical forests already sequester significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the air, as well as support healthy ecosystems and local communities.
The Jari Pará project location is particularly critical to the fight against deforestation. The project is at the forefront of active deforestation in the region and is looking to stop the continuous encroachment of illegal timber harvesting. The current political environment in the region is making this effort particularly challenging. While the project is seeing some smaller areas of deforestation happening within its bounds, contributions from DISHONOR and companies like us provide the region with more resources to deploy ranger patrols to combat illegal harvesters and together we can make a difference.
